Gold Spire, set to release in early November, is a hodgepodge of dark and melancholic tones, chilling piano, and mystifying saxophone. The cover artwork, featuring hues found upon those soon-to-be crisping trees, was created by guitarist Påhl Sundström and is what first drew me in.
Under An Eternal Mirage Projected In The Sky is the best thing I’ve heard from this project. That, of course, is my subjective taste, but this release hits me hard with each listen. I love it.
The resulting atmosphere is one of fury and loss, ringing swords and weeping widows.
If the first two tracks don’t spark your interest and you don’t willingly give in to the curiosity that will surely kill the cat, then I don’t what to tell you.
Much of the music is catchy, but a track such as But For The Rest Of Us… shows an aptitude for engaging dissonance and deconstruction as well.
These eight tracks will get directly into your veins, addicting you to the malevolence writhing throughout.
…Hallucinetic Violet Ignition is rich and flavorful, but you should keep some milk nearby, in case you can’t handle the heat.
Take in the chaos, the violence, and the noncognitive mayhem that is space!
