Replicant – Malignant Reality
If we had a rating system, 10 out of 5. We don’t, so just let this shovel you around the face and see if I’m wrong.

…if you like to challenge yourself and your psyche, this release is on par with anything else released this year, at the top of the pile of the viscerally bizarre.
The EP has the ominous intent of black metal, the thick swampiness of dissonant death metal, and the feral abrasion of grindcore.
At nearly forty minutes of purposeful chaos spread across six tracks, Wode present a barrier of riffs, blasts, and growls, the breaching of which presents an exceptional payoff.
Taking full advantage of the strengths offered by each member, the band have spawned a dark, bombastic creation, rich with feeling, and full of twists and turns.
There is nothing soft about either track, though there is plenty of skill displayed in the mauling they give us.
Dynamic pacing, well thought out composition, a strong vocal performance, and earworm riffing all contribute to making this an album well worth hearing.
Only thirty-six minutes long, you still feel spent when the last note fades, such is the might of this album.
Don’t do drugs. Do Bataille, instead.
I can count on any Sentient Ruin release to be well crafted, challenging in some way, and aesthetically interesting.
