Stormcrowfleet is a flagship album for the funeral doom subgenre
Hypnos – Set Fire to the Sky
These exuberant Swedes do much more than merely incorporate their retro influences into their sound; no, they take idolatry one step further by blatantly aping different bands’ styles for individual songs.
Graveborne – 1918
The album undulates between savagery and mournful atmosphere with a fair number of interesting flourishes added.
Superfjord – All Will Be Golden
a dynamic, mind bending experience of groove heavy, percussion laden majesty
Un – Sentiment
the totality of Un’s music embodies the essence of dark emotion
Wrestling – Ride On Freaks
deftly blends ‘80s speed metal, hardcore punk, melodic riffs, and downright goofy lyrics and vocalizations
The Body – I Have Fought Against It, But I Can’t Any Longer
I hereby dub their music Dissonant DJ Shadow with a Side of Angst, or perhaps House Scene Obliteration. Maybe we can just call it The Body, since the genre only has the one project in it that can rightfully lay claim anyway.
