Blowing in with the pop metal fury of the early 1990’s, Kissin’ Dynamite fully embodies the throwback vibe that they more than attempt on their welcome back to major label glory, Ecstasy. The motto written on the main page of their website sums up all that you need to know about them; Bring Back Stadium Rock. As much as that may trigger a fight or flight reaction from some of you, especially if one of your best kept secrets is the spray painted, plastic Poison cowboy hat (you know the one), there is a lot on this album to neither fight nor fly from.

In all honesty, this album is plain fun. From the first notes of the first track, this is the soundtrack to your favorite coming of age 80’s movie (again, you know the one). It is also a great reminder of how albums were recorded in the late 80’s and early 90’s. The recording is crisp, spotless, and mixed superbly. It makes the older listener remember that there was once a time when albums were actually mixed and did not just have all the faders all the way up. There’s actual dynamics to the mix, which is something greatly missing from the scene today.

Recommendation – Dust off that cowboy hat, rip off the Poison bandana and replace it with a Kissin’ Dynamite one.

Rating – 3.75/5
